Julian seen the confusion on her face and guessed what was on her mind. He smirked at the idea. When the woman told Richard it's best not to know, Julian turned to the kid and just nodded his head. As the vampire lady decided to take his assistance and she moved toward the bedroom, Julian began to pour the kid's drink. A first drink for a Lycan kid. Let's start with something light, Julian thought.

He took his shot, then looked at Richard. As always, after every shot, he wanted blood. Julian was always different in that way. Thanks to his father, of course. "Richard, you may want to turn around for this." Julian said, "I'm not sure how you're going to take it."

Julian turned around and went to his refrigerator. As he opened the door, Julian counted the pouches. It was a habit of his. Scott, a human who was fascinated by Julian's stories, always makes his stops twice a week after the Red Cross recieves extra blood from other Red Cross sites. 20 US dollars a pouch isn't a bad deal. I need to quit drinking, he thought with a sigh as he did every morning that he woke up to an empty apartment or house.

Pup?? Was she seeing things?? "I'm a man-- boy! Where do you get off calling me a dog, lady?" Richard spoke loudly as the woman went in the room. When Julian asked him to turn around, Richard blinked. Not like what? However, being the boy he was, he happened to turn and look anyway. ... Was that... blood?? What kind of place did he just run into?

Richard was beginning to think he wasn't safe here afterall. Guns, blood... what was all this? It'd be best to get out of here as fast as he could. These people were crazy! He didn't want any part of this, he just wanted to go wherever he thought was best soon. Without wanting to hesitate, Richard got up and slowly headed toward the door.

Hastily he opened the door and ran outside. Richard ran as fast as he could away from the apartment. For all he knew these people were into something big. Carrying guns and drinking blood, were they some cult? Richard was a bit scared of this whole thing. He was just kid, what did he really know? Making his way as far away as he could get safe, Richard had to think of where he would go.

Selene turned her head sharply hearing something happen between the boy and the man. Looking as best as she could out the window, Selene saw the Lycan boy make a run for it. I'll get him later...Selene thought as she moved too far and her hand lightly burned. Moving back, Selene knew that she needed blood to not only heal faster, but to keep going.

Walking past the sun's rays as best as she could leading from the bedroom to the kitchen, Selene leaned against the wall seeing as in she could go no further. The Lycan was bathed in the sunlight and so was the entire room. She was beyond irritated that she was stuck her and with Lycans. Lycans she did kill yet! Were was her nerve?
"You, Lycan." Selene said nodding her head in his direction at the pouch of blood in his hands, "Do you have more?" she asked but it was more of a command for him to give it to her. Hopefully it was warm.

As Julian drank from his tube that went into his blood pouch, he looked back at Richard to see his reaction. He recognized the look on his face only too well. Lycans, who do not know all about themselves and have a closed mind, have that look when there's something happening they don't understand. And do not approve of it.

Richard ran out before Julian could say anything to him. There's nothing worse than a scared and confused Lycan child on the run. They become very unpredictable and possibly dangerous if backed into a corner. Julian knew he had to avoid making him more scared than he already was. "S**t." He had to handle this carefully and without mistake. Where are his d**n parents at? Julian thought, frustrated.

He walked to the window to see which direction Richard ran in. Scared Lycan children with something on their mind usually ran in a generally straight line. He was running Northeast. Straight into the woods. Won't be too hard to find once I hit the treeline. He'll probably stop somewhere safe, he thought.

At the moment he was preparing to leave, the vampire came out looking slightly rough in his old bathrobe. Of course she wouldn't have looked where he kept his good ones. On the top shelf of the bathroom. Even though he had offered his full help and assistance, she was still quite demanding in requesting for some of his stock of blood. Prejudice vamp. Doesn't know help when she sees it. "There's plenty in the refrigerator. Tubes are in the door. Help yourself. Be back soon." Julian said as he brushed by her.

He shuffled through his closet to the chest he inherited a long time ago to keep all important items. Julian pulled out the most important one of them all. The scroll explained the basics to help young Lycans understand when they come of age. It hadn't been used for hundreds of years. Julian hurried to the door and ran out, leaving the vampire by herself. Such a confusing day. , he thought as he made it to the tree line. And once he was out of sight, for the first time in 372 years, he changed into his better half.

Watching the Lycan pass her, she knew that he was going after the Lyacn boy. Cocking her head out the window she watched him take off near the shade of the trees.
Not really caring she was about to make her way into the kitchen, but one vital problem lay ahead of her. The sun. Selene couldnt go to the d**n fridge to get food! Selene felt her eyes harden but then soften...she was stuck here without food and no where to go until the sun went down.
Selene went back into the bedroom to see the sun had changed positions in the sky, it was almost high noon.
Slamming her hands on the wall causing it to break slightly, Selene slid down the wall unable to get back into the room. She was stuck.

Julian knelt down to strip. As soon as his clothes were secured to his back by the string he had grabbed from the chest, he started. The changes were practically immediate. As if the last change was yesterday. A freedom he hadn't felt in what seemed like forever. It was over quickly. As the over 9ft tall Lycan took full height, Julian took a deep breath to smell the air. He quickly caught onto Richard's trail and with the scroll safely in his jaws, Julian bent down to all fours, tensed and ran. Wanting to catch up to Richard but not scare him, he slowed but not by alot. The kid's incredibly fast for his age. Talented, even.

When Julian was within a 100 meters of the boy, he came to an abrupt halt to change back and get dressed. Once he was fully clothed again, and as he slowly started walking forward, the forest grew deadly quiet. "Why run, Richard?" Julian called in the direction of the Lycan youth, "You know something isn't normal about you. Haven't you ever wondered why you wake up so exhausted, dirty, and in different places when it's a full moon? You have the same symptoms and probably the same thoughts that I had when I was first told. Richard, you're a Lycan. You know it as a werewolf. I have the easiest way to explain it in my hand. My father gave it to me and I want you to have it. You could be a great Lycan and with an open mind you can accomplish anything. Just read what I have in my hand and it will help. If you want to ever understand who you are, trust me for a few mins. Then you can make your own decision. If you still want to run away, that is your choice. I won't try to stop you again."

So he stood as a statue would bathing in the sunlight, feet planted, arms crossed and head towards the sky, and waited for Richard's answer.

What seemed of a hour of her sitting there, Selene watched the sun's rays move off just slightly enough that she would be able to get into the kitchen without burning. Much.
Getting up in a fluid like motion, Selene walked lightly into the sun, and the sizzling sound of her flesh burning, and the pain soon took hold of Selene as she soon was in the shady area of the kitchen. Huffing slightly and looked at the holes in his robe, she didnt think twice as she almost threw open the refrigerator door and took out a cold pack of blood. Using her nails, Selene sliced it open and drank from it as it were the only thing to keep her alive. Funny enough, it was.

Richard zoomed off for the woods, pratically making a beeline for it. It was the only place he ever felt safe. He didn't know what was going on back there and he wasn't going to ask. Those people were off their rocker! No one was here to protect him. Might as well get used to it. Richard made a mistake thinking to hide out at Julian's place. He nearly allowed himself to trust the guy. Well he wasn't going to take another chance like that again.

As he run, he abruptly stopped. How in the world did the man know where he was? Why did he bother? Everything around them seemed to come to a halt as Julian slowly approached him. What did he want? Richard was tensed to run again in case Julian had any ideas. He wasn't out of breath yet but any momentary stop and he needed to catch it. Richard looked at Julian curiously as he started talking to him. Full moon? ... There were times he's woken up in places that he had no idea on how he got there. ... How did he know?

Werewolf?? Julian was a werewolf?? It was soon that Julian was handing him a scroll. Should he take it? What if this was some trick? Or was he telling the truth? Uncertainly, he inched forward, quickly taking the article and stepping back some. Glancing at Julian warily, he opened the parchment to look at it. The boy frowned and looked at the man. "I still don't trust you. ... But if what you're saying is true, then fine. You seem to know more about me than I do on such short notice."

He looked away then, nearly angry and embarrassed of what he was going to tell him next. "Anyway, I can't read."

When Richard took the training scroll from him, there was some relief that lifted off Julian. At least he hasn't completely given up on me yet.

"I didn't expect you to trust so quickly at such a young age. I want to help you since it appears no one else has." When the young Lycan proclaimed he hadn't learned to read yet, Julian smiled. "That's perfectly fine. It's better to show than tell. In my opinion alone," he said as he thought about how he should begin this. It had been far too long since he'd interacted with another Lycan. Richard was the youngest by far, but he seemed to catch on quickly. That'll be useful later.

"A very long time ago," Julian began to explain, "a war was started between vampires and Lycans through a series of events. We'll get into specifics some other day, though. In the beginning, there was actually morals and respect. Living by the sword, so to speak. As the years went by, the war turned into a tedious battle with liars, cheaters and theives on both sides. I would prefer not to involve you in that, however, you still need to be aware. Just in case," Julian paused to look around.

He had missed the forest so bad. Not completely away from the city, but it would have to do. For now. He continued, "Being a Lycan in the Old Times meant you were just a mindless beast with no reasoning skills. But today, things have changed. What you have to do is learn the basics before we do anything else."

Julian stepped over to a small clearing to his right. "Do you have any questions before we begin?"

War huh? He didn't fully understand it, but, it was something he'd steer clear from. Watching Julian in silence, the boy took a moment to absorb what was just told to him. He was a werewolf. Was that why he always became so disoriented around the full moon? Richard considered what Julian was offering. Teach him the basics. ... Well, he had no one else and the man seemed genuine in wanting to help him.

Taking a few tentative steps forward, he said, "Yeah. If there's a war and I am a werewolf... what are you gonna do with that lady at your house? She don't seem to like you, or me, really. Then again, I don't like her either."

Julian stood quietly as the boy asked his question and stated his dislike for the beautiful, yet extremely dangerous, vampire warrior, who was more or less locked in his apartment.

"Your dislike is understandable. Even though that it is instinct to kill each other upon sight, time has proven that we can exist without bloodshed every minute of the day. However, don't worry about her, Richard. If she had wanted a fight, she wouldn't have wasted her time talking to a couple of stray Lycans." Julian turned his head in the direction of his apartment and thought to himself, There may be hope for us after all.

Julian turned back around to focus his complete attention on Richard, but still keeping an ear out for any approaching human, or worse. "Alright, if you do not have any other questions, I believe we are ready to begin."

After draining at least another two pouches of blood, Selene could no longer stomach the coldness of the blood. The sun was peeking through various spots still within the kitchen, but Selene was not going to remain prisoner in the kitchen of all places. Deciding to make a small run for the bedroom again, Selene ran through the sun rays which burned her skin, as the sound of burning flesh echoed in her ears. Though it burned right now, it would not later.
Selene closed the door shut and looked around the slightly disarrayed room as she took off the now burned robe. Standing naked, Selene made her way to the mirror to see her wounds from the sun which already were beginning to heal thanks to the blood she ingested only moments before.

Not knowing when the Lycans would be back, or if they were grabbing more Lycans, Selene was in a very serious situation; being locked in an apartment lived in by Lycans while the sun was out. Taking another glance around the room, Selene slid into the cool bed and decided to sleep for now; but any sound and she would be alert.

Begin what? What was he going to teach him? He was still a little wary and apprehensive. "... All right then." Not having a clue what to expect or what to do, all Richard could do was stand there. He wondered how the vampire knew they were there to begin with. Julian hadn't done a thing except stay in his apartment and Richard only stumbled upon this crazy war thing by mistake. Did this lady hate what they were so much that she'd stoop to kill a kid??

A small sigh of relief escaped Julian's mouth when he heard the little Lycan's questionable answer. "Good. First thing is first. You must be able to control what only comes natural. Your change. Transformation. Call it whatever you wish. To be able to change at will, you must be aware and in charge of your animal side, instincts and abilities. Such as smell, sight, hearing, strength, etc. Once you've gained power and control over that aspect, your human form will be able to do what your Lycan form can do. That, however, comes later with enough practice and discipline."

Julian looked and listened to the surroundings to be positive that they were completely isolated, because something possibly extremely dangerous was about to be developed. Smells and sounds came from here and there, but nothing potent or enough noise to cause a fuse. The coast was clear.

"Alright, you need to close your eyes and focus on being more than human. Much more than a child and even more than a man. Concentrate on being the animal that has waited to meet you since you were born. That animal that you can feel safe being surrounded by. It will protect you. It is you." Julian smiled at himself. That was the exact same speech that his father had told him once he had been ready. So long ago.
